Our experience and some small complaints

Just a little disclaimer, this is just our opinion, and your experience may not be the same...

We were glad that we didn´t take our 2 year old son to the event.  He wouldn´t have lasted through the waits in line...Even though at Disney World, two months ago, he did fine - but this was in unshaded sun, with nothing to do but stand and talk...

We arrived at the event site to be turned away, there was no parking allowed at the event site, even though there were several hundred open and vacant parking places in the park. We drove about a half mile away and parked at a local high school.

The event had a "park-n-ride" set up, there were signs directing people to that location, but the signes did not mention that there was no parking at the event. A lot of people were grumbling about that in line later in the day. I understand why they didn´t allow parking at the event, but I think they should have mentioned it.

That said, we walked up to the event, and were told the event was at capacity and we´d have to wait in line to be admitted.  We know the drill, so we got in line, and ended up at the very front of the queue. At that point (noon) they had already had over 4,000 people in the park.

We waited around 30 minutes before we were allowed inside the event - only to wait in line again.  The cast members working the lines were temporary cast members, and there were a number of permanent cast members from Florida overseeing the event.

The lines were extremely long, around 1 hour to get to take 2 photos with Mickey and Minnie. We picked that line, since we wanted to have our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie for our 10th anniversary.

By the time we got out of Camp Minnie-Mickey, the show had started.  We missed the beginning, but got to see most of the show, they uncover part of the large map of the Animal Kingdom as they sing and dance...

We were on the one hand impressed by the show, and on the other hand we expected more Disney magic from the event.  For them to put together a travelling show and have it come out as well as it did, and direct the crowds so well is great.  But the outer areas between the tents could have used something. Since the lines were so long it would have been nice to have had some smaller "stages" scattered around for people to watch a video or hear music, or even some kind of audio-animatronics.

If you´re going to the event in your city, go early, be prepared for long lines, and you might consider taking lunch along with you, to eat while you stand in line.  Limited refreshments were available, water and softdrinks mainly, not food. And be sure to take sunscreen - we got pink shoulders waiting in line!we took this at DAK in February on Safari

All in all the Disney event was mission accomplished.  We want to go back to Walt Disney World - right now, and we just returned from a trip in February......
